I have been swimming in the world of comics recently__reading, watching, researching__and I felt like spilling a little bit of the stuff in my head out on the internet. The wife and I saw Iron Man 2 this weekend. It was pretty good and we both enjoyed it, etc etc. I am not going to talk about the movie directly, but something that was in 1, 2, and the Hulk movie: the hints at the Avengers Initiative. I have issues with this.

I have been archiving xkcd, a webcomic, the last few days. I don't know why I never bothered before. I keep finding comics that I relate to on a personal level, like this one. I rarely ever, if ever, buy games when they come out, playing them much later and saving lots of money in the process.
Catching up with the last couple of days. - Comics - Misc - Games - Site News - Computer
Posted on: 2009-12-14 04:55:26[ More - Add comment ]It doesn't feel like it has been six days since I posted last. I have been playing catch up, I guess. I mentioned that the wife's hard drive died, but I left it there. Not bothering with all the details, SpinRite managed to work some magic, and I was able to recover the files. I seriously thought there was a dropped platter or the head was grinding into one at least, but somehow SpinRite fixed it (there were two unrecoverable sectors, but everything else was fine). After finishing off the wife's computer, I tossed the drive in my laptop, reloaded Windows, and it has been working fine ever since.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine - Movies - 3/5 - Comics
Posted on: 2009-09-18 12:04:29[ More - 7 comments ]I saw the Wolvie movie last night. I really enjoyed, and surprised by how much I enjoyed, the first 40-60 minutes. Then there was what the wife and I call a Queen moment, and things went downhill from there. I still enjoyed the movie, but as a Marvel fan, I was disappointed by how much they conjured for the movie. And even that, if they hadn't used Deadpool as the Frankenstein's monster of the story and used random never before heard of mutant for the role (yes, I know, more conjuring), I think it would be better. Comics Deadpool's power set: wicked regeneration. Power set from this movie's Deadpool: wicked regeneration, controllable eyeblasts, teleporation, and katana blades from the hands. Had they used someone new, who didn't have a future in the comics (and movies), they could have killed the character off and been done with it.
Deadpool is the new Wolverine - Comics
Posted on: 2009-09-14 17:13:12[ More - 2 comments ]I love comics. I have been reading comics on and off since I picked up my first one in Jr. High. One of my oldest favorites is Deadpool. He is a mentally unstable mercenary. His origins had him as a mercenary and all around bad guy who was dying of cancer. As opposed to nearly everyone else in the Marvel universe, he wasn't a mutant. Weapon X, the same people who gave Wolverine his adamantite, genetically altered him, giving him a variant of Wolverines spiffy healing factor in an attempt to cure his cancer. It was successful in keeping him alive and letting his normal cells survive, but it did the same for the cancer cells as well. The whole process left him disfigured, so he wears a mask. It also messed up his brain, something improbable like the neural pathways keep trying to fix themselves.
