On a frosty winter's night a wagon appeared at the gates of Fort Klugman carrying pioneers to the frontier. A young woman in the party called Delia was heavy with child, and though she had journeyed with the virile young men for nigh on one year, none had lain with her; though she was comely. And on this frosty winter's night, young Delia's water broke almost freezing her to the seat of the wagon. And the pioneers beseeched the soldiers to grant them entrance so that she could give birth to her child in the hospital there. But, due to an outbreak of syphilis among the soldiers, the hospital was full. So there in the stable among the feed and tack and whatsit she gave birth to a son; whom she called Alvis. As was her want. And since none of the men in the party was the father, it was decided among them that the birth of this child must truly be a miracle! And it was so, for above the fort there suddenly and miraculously appeared an awesome and mighty comet! And so brilliant was its light that there came from all the tribes that the soldiers had not yet decimated: shamans! And they rode upon buffalo, as was their heathen custom, carrying offerings of whiskey and firearms. And when the shamans saw the child, they were in awe! For he glowed in a light that was truly not of this world!

NaNoWriMo Word Sprint Fun - Stories - Humor - NaNoWriMo
Posted on: 2009-12-01 02:51:34[ More - Add comment ]Today was the last official day of NaNoWriMo so you probably won't be hearing much more about it for awhile. But even though both the wife and I had already won, we did the word sprints today anyways. The idea of the sprints is pretty basic: they give an amount of time to write, and you see how much you can burn out. On occasion they toss in a suggestion to integrate into your story, which you can choose to use or ignore on your whim. Then they come back and ask for your results and if you used their suggestion.

Punk boy came up this past weekend, and I was reintroduced (maybe just introduced since I had barely played it previously.) to Grand Theft Auto 4. Now I have played about half of the GTA games. I own and have played at length GTA3, GTA: San Andreas, and GTA: Vice City. But none of them are nearly as amusing as this one to me. The more I play this game the more amused I get.

It is a tribute to the first amendment that this kind of vile, contemptible nonsense is so freely propagated. - Barney FrankI really kind of want to change the tagline of my page from 'Pointless and Happy About it' to this wonderful, wonderful line.

Posted on: 2009-07-19 00:50:30[ 4 comments ]Today was a lot of fun. Lushbaugh, Jamie, and Miller came down from the Haute for a visit. We had crock pot tacos on homemade tortillas, watched a ton of literal videos on YouTube, chatting it up quite a bit, and enjoyed some spaetzle. We both really miss seeing these guys...wish Terre Haute wasn't a three hour drive.

Her family had a full compliment of blood relatives (plus me, I guess) and my family was us and the parents. Great fun by all, yada yada...not why I am posting. I am posting because something awesome happened today, and it just hit me a few minutes ago.

Posted on: 2008-03-18 19:48:51[ More - 3 comments ]I was walking out of WalMart today, and as I should have been, I was walking out of the door marked Exit. I have this huge annoyance with people who arbitrarily walk through whatever door is closest to them without reguards for whether it is an entrance or an exit. It is one of the many vestiges of working at WalMart, and trying to do cary outs of large boxes through doors that would have been empty if people only read the signs.
