I spent about an hour looking around for useful information about SSL before I finally decided I was an idiot and needed to do something else. So, I figured that something else might as well be toy with code. I looked over the scripts I am using for the editing and maintainace for rantfest, 16 right now, and spent some time looking over how best to combime them. It is moments like this that I realize that requardless of how much time I spend working on the site, I am still just a novice programmer. Kinda sad. Anyways, I have six scripts for the pages and rants, four for user post stuff, a couple of session scripts, and a few misc scripts. Which to play with...
I decided that since it has been awhile since I really toyed with anything on the page I should start by taking a couple of related scripts and seeing if I could make it a stand alone group. So I took the user post scripts and started with them. Sounded easy enough, and the layout followed through very easily. Combining them let me trim out around 200 lines of duplicated code, with only having to add about 5-10 lines of conditionals to make it flow right. Tomorrow I am going to go over today's work more. There were a few areas I left as they were that will need to be adjusted if I am going to continue. All in all it is going faster than I expected, which is kinda scaring me.
