Day Five - DADC
Posted on: 2006-06-17 21:47:50

We had people over last night so I am just getting to this post now. Anyways, I have been taking Aleve for the past couple of days. It does not do much on a hurt now-take one-get relief basis but more as a build up in your system over time thing, so most of my normal aches and pains were dulled on day five. Also all signs of the sickness from early day four were gone.

We started off slamming product out. It seemed all the machine trouble from the day before were gone...until about five minutes before the first break. Yet again the assembler machine was messing up, only this time it was doing funky things the EAS tags. It took some time and a couple of tries, but it was eventually fixed. There were some other minor problems, but we made it to lunch just fine. Around 2 the head operator left leaving just the two of us to run the line. I got to play the operator role on my own, which was really fun. Up until then, I had only really been getting partial jobs. I would be doing half the operator stuff, or working the back of the line but with help through the busy stuff. I kept ahead for the most part, which is good since this is half of what I will be doing once my training is over. Of course, did not last as long a I would hav hoped. The wrapper machine stated to act funky and we had to check a couple of thousand DVDs to make sure they were produced right and then rework the bad stuff. The last half hour was spent alone while the other person went to a meeting. I finished up the paperwork, another skid of DVDs, and cleaned the place up.

Monday, I start nights, my permanent shift. I have heard the supervisor is a slave driver, but have heard nothing about the people. Oh well, I guess I will have to get used to all new people again. I am not looking forward to that, especially since I am still in training and will probably be shifting around a lot until they feel I am ready to be stuck with just one person.
