NaNoWriMo: Day One - NaNoWriMo
Posted on: 2007-11-02 03:40:27

I don't plan on having a post devoted solely to NaNoWriMo everyday, I mean, I hope I have other valid things to say, but it is me, so probably not. I mostly wanted to post because I am ahead of the game, and knowing me, that won't happen again. I am currently at 2854 words. If you break the 50k words down to how many per day you get 1666 so I am nearly twice that, and well, over three times where I wanted to be for my goal of 25k. After just what I have done today, I am positive that I can carry the story to 25k but I am not sure about 50k. I think more what will happen is I will get around the 40k mark, finish the story, and then go back and flesh out the scenes to try and hit 50k. And yes, I know 50k words is not that much, but I have never carried a story that far, but I am hoping.

I have tomorrow off, so I am hoping that I can at least double what I have now so I can give my self a couple of days padding. I am worried that if I let myself get too much padding I will take a "short" break and not get back to it.

It's okay to get ahead.

I've found if I can stick to a date & word count goal, I do pretty well. For example I need to be at 4000 words today. Tomorrow 6000. So if I write 5000 today, then I only need to write another 1000 tomorrow. So sometimes I end up needing to write 8000 words in a day and other times I can skip because I managed to get ahead. I think half of NaNo is a mind game in the first place.

Awesome

%0k is still a lot of words to me... Of course I have no fucking clue how many words I have written (or typed) for a story. Well have fun!
