New Year New Color - Site News
Posted on: 2009-01-01 13:14:45

So the wonderful people at Pantone have selected the color of 2009, 14-0848 Mimosa. And in wanting to get rid of the holiday crap as soon as possible, I jumped on board. It is the same basic layout I have run the past couple of design changes, just a new paint job. I still need to jump in all the browsers and tweak the placement some, but I doubt it will change much.

The holidays went well, for the most part, but I am glad they are over (though technically from a retail standpoint, it is not over until the 24th of this month). And that is all I am going to say about the holidays so that I don't go on for pages about why they suck and just how glad I am that they are over.

mimosa?

Is this shade of yellow mimosa? I looked up the word in the dictionary and got: mimosa n., pl. sas. 1. any of numerous plants, shrubs, or trees belonging to the genus Mimosa, of the legume family, native to tropical or warm regions, having small flowers in globular heads or cylindricalspikes. 2. any of various similar or related plants, as the silk tree. 3. a cocktail of orange juice and champagne.

Probably the color of the flower.

Pantone, which is a color authority, has named the color in the swatch mimosa. One of the things Pantone does is name and represent every distinguisable color so that people have a basis to compare colors. Of course when you get to hues that are not visibly different to the majority of people, naming them does seem arbitrary.

Kinda nostalgic

The color reminds me of the old amber terminals I used to use. Must not be able to distinguish the difference without them side by side.

More like mustard.

It looks like mustard to me.
