Vampire: Bloodlines - Games
Posted on: 2005-09-30 12:20:15

I love Vampire: Bloodlines in spite of all its flaws, of which there are many. I picked it up again a couple of days ago because nothing else sounded good, and don't think I have gone to bed before 4 since. I was running a Gangrel heavily geared towards hand-to-hand combat.

The last hour and a half of play last night was everything I hate about the game. They supplement harder opponents with tons of easy opponents, so many in fact that my system starts to suffer from horrid lag. They also supplement having larger areas with more enemies with having smaller areas with enemies that respawn. This would not be that much of a problem if they increased the respawn radius so that you were not on one side of the room watching them poof on the other side of the room. After aabout 20 minutes of not leaving a 20'x20' room because of respawn, I just started to run from place to place with an EverQuest style train following me.

I just started another game last night, and played through the first couple of quests. I am running a Malkavian now. Malks are the vampire equivilant of my wife, they are simply crazy in the head and they know how to make everyone else crazy with them. I am also taking a page out of the wife's book and cheating like mad with this char. Insanity + brush hook + invisibility + god mode = more fun than it should be.

Still makes me seasick
